One economist estimates that China's actual GDP growth is around 1.6% in 2017.
China has different method of calculating the economic numbers.
It's possible that the growth may stop completely or even falls negative.

Oh dear, China now needs to think about the net effect of their economic explosion like wage inflation, the environment, proper (ethical) food production instead of earring everything that moves (not to mention dogs and cats) and above all, social inclusion and a say in the direction of social reform. Even the Chinese can dream can't they?

just like japan used to be the factory and the name "made in japan" became synonomous. when their standarst of living improved, japan pivoted to a modern economy. China however will be much more difficult to pivot becasue they have a population of rich coastal elites surrounded by a thrid world country. I do not think they will be able to fully recover and the slow process of chinas demise will follow. tibet, mancuuria , mongolia and the muslim provinces will break off and their may even be a war to ovethrow the bloated communist government who really only got lucky as china rose.

China started all this by offering cheap labor to maximize profits for the elites of the world. This resulted in jobs losses on a global scale. Now these people with no jobs cannot buy products anymore which resulted in global economic slowdown. The result of this is people around the world are now forced to accept jobs that pay very little (barely enough to feed themselves), This vicious cycle continuous on and on as business elites have now the power to go from country to country to exploit labor and resources all in the name of globalization. Business elites will squeeze every drop of profit both from their workers and consumers.

Job security is delusional for our time and our children's time. The place where this video was recorded, Guangdong province, went over several tides already, nothing particular, "creative destruction" by Schumpeter. With robotics and AI, it is better we get over our sentiment and adapt.

When everyone has a 3d printer at home that will weave or print a style selected over the internet, low tech, low startup sectors like garment manufacturing will be a thing of the past. With one larger question being what will all these tele-consumers be doing for a living, and who will own or lease all those former industrial and commercial properties? Reclaimed by nature and rehabilitated? With less impacting and invasive construction methods to build public facilities perhaps. In which membership is sold to foreigners like country club memberships? Just make sure the vision doesn't turn into a Hieronymus Bosch painting, or a Dante's Inferno like Novel. Is it any coincidence that China and Italy both boast noodles as national cuisine? With the rise of English cotton mills clothing China in the 18th century, wonder if it will take The United States to strip China again, at some point in the future?

yeah it is hard no more jobs left in America because they moved to China for cheap labor now they move to India for even cheaper labor. Every country needs to stop imports on anything manufactured force companies to make things in the countries where they will be sold.

China is actually extremely non socialist. The reason why its growth is slowing down is because wages are increasing from inflation and higher standards of living, and foreign companies are moving some of their factories to even cheaper labor costs companies like India and Bangladesh. But the most major factor is the slow economic recovery of US and Europe, which are China's two biggest markets. Lower demand for goods = lower supply of goods and demand for labor.

Simon, nothing is wrong with free trade. China actually needs LESS socialism. The less socialism in a country, the more industry, the more jobs, and the higher the standard of living.
