A Rossini festival in the Black Forest, can that be possible? Since over 25 years Rossini in Bad Wildbad shows that a small but particula Belcanto opera festival can be successful, with splendid CD recordings and international radio transmission. The festival is internationally renowned for discovering new operas of the belcanto repertory and outstanding young singers. “Rossini Bad Wildbad” was founded 1989 to remind of Gioachino Rossini`s stay in the spa town in the black forest. Since 1991, Jochen Schönleber is the artistic director and now he is also the general manager. Music director is one of the leading belcanto conductors in the world, brillant Italian Antonino Fogliani. The festival is hold by the city of Bad Wildbad. It is supported by the land of Baden-Württemberg and by the district of Calw. The principal sponsor is the AWG Calw.
